AN ally to your journey
While it is tempting to think of your healing and transformation as a linear process, the reality of change is often much more dynamic.
Therefore, the way you use the materials in this portal would be based on the stages you are in, and the challenges that you are facing at that particular time.
Unlike a typical online program, you do not need to complete a specific module before you move onto the next.
Each week, you will be invited to reflect on a topic, depending on where you are at in the journey from healing to thriving.
For example, this week, you might be working on healing the relationship with your family, but a few months later, you want to work on finding your voice in a romantic relationship.
You will then be given a prompt to conduct ‘an experiment’. These are sometimes called ‘homework’ or ‘assignment’ in therapy, but unlike school work, there is no right or wrong, and no pressure to complete them.
The basis of this work is creative and expressive arts; You will be invited to harness the healing power of imagery, storytelling, music, drama, poetry, movement, dreamwork, and visual art.
Visual language is powerful. When you view an image, you go through not only a cognitive but also a visceral process. Any single picture holds an infinite amount of information, meanings and symbolic associations. Using art and pictures for this purpose, we can tap into our unconscious perceptions, values and memories.
This portal compliments the work we do in our meetings. Sometimes, towards the end of our session together, you will be directed to a particular page/ chapter, where I invite you to engage in a piece of reading, a journalling or reflective exercise, to create a piece of artwork or poetry, or to listen to a piece of music. This means during the week, even when we are not directly speaking to each other, you can use these exercises to speed up or deepen our work.
These exercises should help you consolidate the insights gained n the session, to learn new things about yourself, or to apply the skills you learn in therapy to real-life situations.
